Today's Friday, so it's entertainment. TV to be specific...

Three weeks ago, one of my favorite shows came back for its fourth season. I'm not sure what it is about the show that grabbed my interest. Certainly, living out west gave me a different view of Mormon culture, and yes, towns like Juniper Creek really do exist. I've seen 'em. I've seen "Pioneer" Mormons in the stores of St. George, and towns like Colorado City with eight bedroom houses and two 15 passenger vans in the driveway...
This year, they did a total re-do on the title sequence, and I'm not sure I like it any more than the skating sequence with the Beach Boys, but maybe it will grow on me over time...
The story lines for this year are interesting: Roman's dead (but still part of the plot), Bill's running for office, and now it looks like the storyline for Ben and Margine will continue. The scenes of poverty on the Indian reservation are real -- this is what they look like. So where the writers broke a lot of ground in exposing viewers to some of the less known sides of Mormon, and now it looks like they plan to do the same with life on the reservations. We'll see.

New this year on TNT is "Men of a Certain Age"... I've always liked Andre Braugher as an actor, but don't really care as much for Scott Bakula or Ray Romano. But the theme of the show hits home -- male midlife crisis... Even my son has found it funny.
Being of almost that certain age, I find myself relating to some of the shows plot lines (not the part about sex with 25 year old coffee shop workers). It's the right mix of funny and poignant. We'll have to see if it lasts more than a season, though...
